The David Bowie tribute concerts will take place in New York City

Michael Stipe of R.E.M and Pixies have been added to the ‘Music of David Bowie‘ tribute concerts, set to take place at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Performing on March 31 and April 1, Stipe and Pixies will also be joined by Blondie, Cat Power, Mumford and Sons, Anna Calvi and more.

Debbie Harry will be performing solo on March 31st and with Blondie on April 1st, with Amanda Palmer, Anna Calvi and Jherek Bischoff set to perform as a three-piece. The show’s band leader and musical director is long-time Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti, who worked with Bowie intermittently from 1969 to 2016. The shows were organised by City Winery’s Michael Dorf, who has also staged tribute concerts for Bob Dylan, Prince and more. Proceeds from both concerts will be going to a wide range of music-focused organisations including Young Audiences New York, Little Kids Rock, Church Street School of Music and more.
