'We're too empowered as women,' says Lindsey Troy
Speaking to the Daily Star, singer and guitarist Lindsey Troy quipped: “We would love to work with Jack but don’t think he likes the way we dress. We’re too empowered as women.”
Her bandmate, drummer Julie Edwards, also discussed the pair’s wild image and said: “Some people look at us and immediately feel hostility. There’s people that love what we do and are inspired by it, and there’s people that feel threatened by it.”
Deap Vally are expected to release their debut album this year and will hit the UK this summer for a series of festival slots, including shows at Reading And Leeds and Dot To Dot. Jack White, meanwhile, was recently named as an ambassador for this year’s Record Store Day. Speaking about his role, he said: “We need to reeducate ourselves about human interaction and the difference between downloading a track on a computer and talking to other people in person and getting turned onto music that you can hold in your hands and share with others.”
This year’s Record Store Day will take place on April 20, 2013.
