Sebastian Grainger lifts the lid on duo's reunion

Death From Above 1979 have spoken for the first time about their reunion.

The band were a surprise inclusion on the bill for April’s Coachella Festival in California and have since confirmed they will play Austria’s Donau Festival in May.

Now drummer Sebastian Grainger has posted a message on the band’s official website,

“It’s been five years since Death From Above 1979 played a show,” he wrote. “10 years since Jesse [F Keeler, bandmate] played me the first demos and 11 years since we sat in his parents basement and played so loud we knocked the china off the shelves upstairs.”

He added: “So why not say yes? Why not say yes to Coachella? Why not say yes to playing the music we designed to be an undeniable source of power?

Jesse and I have decided that what we can do together should not be denied. Together again, as was always the intention, as a collaboration. The collision of two different worlds.”

Since the band split in 2006 Keeler has worked as half of dance duo MSTRKRFT, while Grainger has performed as a singer in Sebastian Grainger And The Mountains.
