Deftones confirm full details of new album ‘Koi No Yokan’

Sacremento metallers will release their seventh studio LP in mid-November

Deftones have confirmed full details of their new studio album ‘Koi No Yokan’.

The album, which is the Sacremento metal band’s seventh full-length effort, will be released on November 12 in the UK and November 13 in the US.

The record is the follow-up to 2010’s ‘Diamond Eyes’ was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush). It contains a total of 11 tracks, with a single ‘Tempest’ released on October 9. The band will also be giving away a free track named ‘Leathers’ later today (September 18).

Speaking about the record previously, the band’s frontman Chino Moreno said that the record was “very dynamic” and said it would contain elements of all the band’s previous records.

He said: “It’s not a super fast or slow record. It’s very dynamic. Some of my favorite things about Deftones are the dynamics. Yes, we’re a heavy band, but we’re not just in-your-face aggro the whole time, punching you in the face. There’s a lot of aggression in some of the music, but there’s also this very soothing element where there’s a lot of soundscapes rather than attack, attack, attack the whole time.”

He continued: “I understand that’s a big part of our sound, but I really feel like we reached a peak on our dynamics on this record with those two qualities, the beauty of something and just straight, ruthless aggression.”

The band have confirmed a full US tour for this winter in support of their new album, but have yet to schedule any UK dates. They last played the UK in 2011 at the Reading and Leeds Festivals.

The tracklisting for ‘Koi No Yokan’ is as follows:

‘Poltergeist (Roller Derby)’
‘Romantic Dreams’
‘Leathers’
‘Swerve City’
‘Entomb (Dazzle)’
‘Graphic Nature’
‘Tempest’
‘Gauze’
‘Rosemary’
‘Goon Squad’
‘What Happened To You? (Flashback)’
