DEPECHE MODE have confirmed their first UK dates in three years.

The band follow the May 14 release of their ‘Exciter’ album with a world tour. The three confirmed UK dates are London Wembley Arena (October 17), Manchester MEN Arena (20) and Birmingham NEC (21). Tickets go on sale on March 20.

Songwriter Martin Gore told NME.COM: “We’re starting this tour in mid-June, beginning in America, then we come to Europe. We will play five or six songs from the new album that will work particularly well live. I don’t think we’ll be doing any festivals before these. We’ve done a few in the past and the intimacy is always diluted at a festival.”

Asked if it would be a greatest hits tour, Gore said: “We did that last time when we toured with the singles compilation. There are a lot of hits to play, but we’ll throw in a few album tracks too.”

Gore also confirmed the follow-up single to ‘Dream On’, the first release from ‘Exciter’ which is released through Mute on April 23. “We’ve picked the second single which is ‘I Feel Loved’,” he told NME.COM. “It’s a funny summer record because it’s a disco anthem, but with very dreary words.”

Gore also said that singer Dave Gahan is fit and healthy. Gahan cleaned up following a 1996 overdose on a ‘speedball’ of heroin and cocaine.

“Dave has moved on,” said Gore. “He hasn’t had a drink in nearly five years now.”
