Electronic music duo take on rapper's single as part of Radio 1's Live Lounge month
Disclosure and Sam Smith have covered ‘Hotline Bling’ by Drake as part of BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge month.
The Howard brothers and Smith were guests on Clara Amfo’s morning show today (September 16) and performed the cover, which can be heard below. In addition to the Drake cover, they also played their own song ‘Omen’ during the session.
Disclosure and Sam Smith are the latest artists to participate in the station’s Live Lounge Month. Florence + The Machine, The Weeknd and Ellie Goulding will all record live sessions, with a Live Lounge scheduled daily throughout September.
Earlier this month Wolf Alice covered a One Direction song and Slaves covered Chemical Brothers. Muse also played a lengthier Live Lounge, including a cover of Chvrches song ‘Lies’.
The duo’s second album ‘Caracal’ and follow-up to the hugely successful ‘Settle’ was announced back in June, and is named after a wild cat that caught the pair’s attention while in tour in 2014. It’s due out on September 25, and features Lorde, The Weeknd and Miguel, among a number of other collaborators.
