Rapper also says he thinks music is going to 'shift' towards indie...
The somewhat surprising collaboration between the rapper and former boyband star was unveiled last week (May 10), with the track’s official video seeing Dizzee and Robbie play out a Mods v Rockers scenario with Robbie as a Mod riding a scooter through the streets. Dizzee, meanwhile, travels on an OAP style-mobility scooter.
Speaking to Capital FM about the song, Dizzee said: “It’s just one of those things. I actually recorded the song a year before, last year in LA. Robbie’s name came up this year, and when I heard that I thought, ‘Yeah, that makes total sense.’ But then he’d only record it as long as I was there, so I had to fly out to his house in LA.”
He added: “I heard it and I just got excited because it had an indie feel to it and I just felt like that’s where music is going to go. I feel like there’s going to be a shift in music.”
‘Goin’ Crazy’ will feature on Dizzee’s new album ‘The Fifth’, due for release in the summer, and is the second song from the LP to be unveiled, following ‘H Town’ featuring rappers Bun-B and Trae The Truth. Produced by A-Trak, ‘H Town’ debuted on Dizzee’s ‘Dirtee TV The Mixtape Vol 2’ earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Dizzee Rascal is set to support Muse on their forthcoming summer dates, starting in Coventry on May 22 before heading down to London for a pair of shows at Emirates Stadium, home to Arsenal FC, on May 25 and 26. The short jaunt will end in Manchester on June 1.
