Rapper gets crowd bouncing in the sunshine

Dizzee Rascal greeted the return of the sun at T In The Park today (July 11) with an energetic early evening set on the Main Stage.

Sporting a Kobe Bryant LA Lakers basketball top and yellow cap, Dizzee opened with a rocked up version of ‘Jus A Rascal’, followed by ‘Road Rage’ in a set dominated by material from last year’s ‘Tongue ‘N Cheek’ album.

“What the fuck is going on out there, Scotland?” Dizzee shouted after ‘Chill Wiv Da Man’, adding: “Shout if you’re proud of Scotland!”

Later on, he teased the audience, asking, “I think we need to get old skool… you’re not ready to get old skool, I don’t believe that shit!” before playing ‘Pussyole (Old Skool)’.

“The next song is no fucking joke, man, so where are the moshpit crew?” he demanded before a mashup of ‘Stand Up Tall’ and Nirvana‘s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.

“I’ve been working real hard recently,” he told the crowd, “and I need a holiday, I’m gonna take you all with me,” getting the crowd jumping with an exuberant rendition of his UK Number One hit ‘Holiday’.

“Scotland, it’s been emotional, we love you,” he declared, leading the crowd in the now-traditional T In The Park chant of “here we fucking go” before closing with ‘Bonkers’.
