Britrap superstar kicks off beginning of end of UK festival season

Dizzee Rascal kicked off the beginning of the end of the UK festival season at Bestival last night (September 10).

The rap superstar took a break from his judging role on Sky1 reality show Must Be The Music to complete his summer campaign of festival headline slots, on the Isle Of Wight.

But while ‘Bonkers’ provided the party anthem of the night, all eyes were on the legendary Gil Scott-Heron who made good on his recent comeback record ‘I’m New Here’.

Meanwhile, Dizzee was warmed up by a euphoric show from Hot Chip, continuing their festival victory lap following recent fourth album ‘One Life Stand’.

The other big triumph of the day came from Mercury winners The xx, putting in a typically understated performance inside the Big Top despite the hordes of new fans spilling out of the edges of their tent.

However, the hot show of the night seemed to be taking place out in the Fantasy Field. The Playstation Singstar Cocktails And Dreams Lounge played host to a surprise show from Vanilla Ice. The rapper performed his cult classic ‘Ice Ice Baby’ alongside previewing new material from his comeback record ‘W.T.F.’

Bestival continues today with performances from The Flaming Lips, Mumford and Sons and Roxy Music alongside the festival’s now-legendary fancy-dress parade.
