Sonique given all clear from cancer

DJ was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009

Sonique has said that doctors have given her the all-clear following treatment for cancer.

The singer, real name Sonia Clarke, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2009. She underwent three operations, intensive chemotherapy and preventative radiotherapy.

“Rather than thinking I’m on the road to recovery now, I’ve recovered and it’s time to pick up the pieces and move on and forget about that place. You just have to think positive,” Sonique told BBC News. She added that she’s “just trying not to hang on to that whole thing now”.

Sonique is among 20 celebrities who feature on a cover of Cyndi Lauper‘s song ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ in aid of Cancer Research UK. The song is on sale digitally now.

Other singers who are included on the single, which is helping to kick off the Race For Life campaign, include Kym Marsh, Caroline Quentin and Danielle Lloyd.
