Rapper reportedly tried to assume false identity
DMX was arrested in a mall in Phoenix at the weekend, the most recent in a series of arrest for the rapper.
The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, reportedly used a fake name and social security number after receiving treatment at an Arizona clinic in April to avoid paying a $7,500 bill.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said he doesn’t understand why judges keep letting the rapper go free on bond after each arrest which have amounted to five since May.
Reasons for the arrests have ranged from animal cruelty to traffic and drugs charges, and failing to appear in court.
Arpaio told the Associated Press. “I don’t know why judges keep letting this guy out. Every time he goes in there, he gets out on bond. I’m hoping this is the one time he’s going to pay the penalty for his offense.
Bond has not been set for the false identity charges.
The Sheriff added that if the rapper is jailed he will be separated for his own safety as the other inmates “may not like his music.”
