DMX sent to prison after positive drug test

The rapper is awaiting sentencing on a tax evasion charge

DMX has been sent to prison after failing a drug test.

The rapper is currently awaiting sentencing on a tax evasion charge. He had previously agreed he would obey bail conditions, but a judge in his case has now accused of repeatedly lying about that.

Judge Jed Raykoff called DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, a genuine flight risk, and ordered he be imprisoned until his sentencing in March.

As The Associated Press reports, DMX’s lawyer Murray Richman said his client had taken drugs to cope with the hospitalisation of his one-year-old daughter. He had left a rehabilitation centre in Northeastern American to visit the child in New York City.

The rapper tested positive last week for cocaine, opiates, and Oxycodone. Prosecutors at the court in New York asked that Simmons be jailed. He was later led out in handcuffs.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z recently revealed he had boycotted the Grammys earlier in his career because he felt the Recording Academy had snubbed DMX in 1999, despite having a successful year.

Though Jay-Z didn’t attend that year, he went on to win Best Rap Album for his LP ‘Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life’.
