'The Detox' is set to feature guest appearances from the likes of Eminem and 50 Cent...
DR DRE is creating ‘the most advanced rap album ever’, according to co-producer SCOTT STORCH.
‘The Detox’, which is unlikely to be released until 2005, is the follow-up to 1999’s ‘2001’ album, and is likely to feature guest appearances from Eminem, [a][/a], Snoop Dogg and Knoc-Turn’al, as well as G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks, Guvner and Game.
Storch told MTV: “I’d describe it as the most advanced rap album musically and lyrically we’ll probably ever have a chance to listen to.”
“When I work with Dre, he usually does more than 100 records and then picks his favourites,” he added. “But there are all kinds of new rhythms in there. He always tries to stay a couple of steps ahead of the field. There’s gonna be a lot of personal stuff on the album and a lot of hot sh–.”
The LP has been under construction for one year, and is likely to be on the drawing board for some time yet.
Storch told MTV News: “Dr Dre always tries to top his last one. That’s why he spends so much time putting them together and they don’t come out every five minutes. He puts a lot of time, energy and genius into the stuff.”
Talking about the collaborations on the record, Storch added: “The whole family is gonna be on there. If not the last Dre album, this is gonna be one of the last Drealbums we’re gonna get. So he’s putting a lot into it. It’s just a matter of making a classic experience”
As previously reported on NME.COM in 2002, Dre said that his new studio album will be a “hip-hop musical”.
Speaking in the US, the producer / rapper said that he wanted to make a departure from the content of his previous records and that the new album will be based around one central character, with all the songs based around his fictional life.
