Drake: ‘My next album is one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on’

He is expected to work with Jamie xx on the follow up to 2011's 'Take Care'

Drake has said that his forthcoming third album is “one of the most exciting projects” he’s ever worked on.

The follow up to 2011’s ‘Take Care’ has seen the singer and rapper relocate to Los Angeles from Toronto. Speaking to Billboard about the as yet untitled album, Drake explained that he is in a “different mindset” during the creation of the new record. He said:

I’m in a different mindset now that I’m very proud of… It’s going to be a very interesting album – probably, to be honest with you, conceptually one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on, just because there’s so many new things going on in my life.

Of moving to Los Angeles, he said: “There’s a new atmosphere. I’m getting to know new people… Anybody knows that when it’s new, that’s when I thrive. When there’s new things to talk about that’s really when I get off.” Drake is expected to work with Jamie xx, 2 Chainz and Noah ’40’ Shebib on the album.

Earlier this month Drake released the video for ‘Take Care’ featuring his rumoured ex-girlfriend Rihanna, who appears on the track. The song was based around Jamie xx’s remix of Gil Scott-Heron‘s version of ‘I’ll Take Care Of You’. It is the fourth single to be taken from Drake’s second album, ‘Take Care’.

Last month, Drake admitted that he uses drugs to cope with the pressure of fame. In an interview with The Guardian, he revealed that he occasionally turned to substances to loosen up.

Drake will be one of the headline acts at this summer’s Wireless Festival in London. The rapper will headline the festival’s second night (July 7). He joins Rihanna as a headliner, with the ‘Talk That Talk’ singer set to close the festival on the following night (July 8). Deadmau5 will headline the event’s opening day (July 6).
