Drizzy promises fans he will make it up to them at a later date
Drake has postponed a trio of upcoming shows on his Summer Sixteen Tour, which has been running since July.
Gigs in Philadelphia, Newark and his hometown of Toronto will be rescheduled to give the musician’s injured ankle a chance to recover, he told fans regretfully.
“We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night,” Drake wrote on his October’s Very Own blog.
“I hate to be told I can’t do something, but [I am] under doctor’s orders to allow me time to recuperate. I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support.”
Reassuring fans that the gigs will definitely take place at a later date, he added: “I promise – I will make it up to you. I can’t wait to see you all again with new music and a stronger ankle.”
Drake’s Summer Sixteen Tour, which he is co-headlining with Future, was originally due to wrap with its 60th show on October 16 in Newark. The singer-rapper has yet to announce live dates outside of North America in support of his chart-topping ‘Views’ album.
