Rodgers and the band previously worked together on 1986 album 'Notorious'
The photo showed the three artists in Duran Duran’s London studio on August 10 and also confirmed that the LP is “tentatively slated for [release in] spring 2015”. The caption also labelled Rodgers and Ronson’s profession as “producers”, suggesting that both would assume that role on the release.
The band’s 1986 album ‘Notorious’ was co-produced by Rodgers as were a selection of tracks on 2004 release ‘Astronaut’, while the Chic mainstay also produced Number Two hit ‘The Wild Boys’ for the group. Ronson, meanwhile, co-produced their last studio release, 2010’s ‘All You Need Is Now’.
Earlier this year, Duran Duran also confirmed that they had been working with former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante on the forthcoming record. Posting about the collaboration, Duran Duran wrote, “We are all such big fans of John’s work and are honoured to have him adding his magic to the record! There are no current plans for John to tour with us, but his guitars sound incredible on the tracks.”
Rodgers, meanwhile, recently announced that he was working on a new Chic song with “practically everyone that’s ever sung with [him]”. The guitarist and producer has worked with the likes of Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, Disclosure and Avicii in recent years, and the likes of David Bowie and Madonna in the past.
I’m just finishing up a new song for CHIC that’s going to feature almost everybody that’s ever sung with me. I can’t wait to do that session
