Dutch Uncles will premiere their new album at a non-league football match this weekend.
The Manchester band will release the album later this month (February 23) via Memphis Industries. ‘O Shudder’ is Dutch Uncles’ third album to date and the follow-up to their 2013 release ‘Out Of Touch, In The Wild’.
Ahead of the album’s release, the group have announced that they’ll debut the record at the MEN United Cup between West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC versus Bootle FC, taking place at The Recreation Ground in Chorlton this Saturday (February 14).
The band’s music will play as the teams enter the pitch and the album will be played in full over the tannoy after the match. Dutch Uncles will also take part in a special penalty shoot-out at half time.
Frontman Duncan Wallis says of the plans: “We’re banking on a West Didsbury & Chorlton win or it could make the whole post-match album premier thing a little bitter-sweet. Celebrations and commiseration aside, we wanted to mark the occasion with a bit of fun and hopefully help the team win over some new fans… and maybe vice versa.”
Speaking to NME about the album recently, Robin Richards of the band said: “We let the songs dictate the sound a bit more this time. But it’s been quite a natural progression for us. We could’ve gone down a completely different route again with this record, but it seemed like we’d found something to build on with ‘Out Of Touch’.”
The album also features Liverpool band Stealing Sheep appear on album track ‘Be Right Back’ while frontman Duncan Wallis describes the album as having “reflections on pregnancy, terrorism, school discos, divorce, health scares, sexual dysfunction and job-seeking”.
The ‘O Shudder’ tracklisting is as follows:
‘Babymaking’
‘Upsilon’
‘Drips’
‘Decided Knowledge’
‘I Should Have Read’
‘In n Out’
‘Given Thing’
‘Don’t Sit Back (Frankie Said)’
‘Accelerate’
‘Tidal Weight’
‘Be Right Back’
Dutch Uncles will play the following live dates:
Manchester The Ritz (March 27)
London KOKO (April 10)
