Ed Sheeran has top-selling album of 2014 so far; Kasabian and Royal Blood also in Top 40

‘X’ by Ed Sheeran has been revealed as the top-selling artist album of 2014 so far.

The singer’s second LP tops a list of the Top 40 biggest selling albums of the year (excluding compilations) compiled by the Official Charts Company. ‘X’ was released in June and has been certified double platinum by the BPI.

Sheeran told the OCC: “I’m so happy people have been enjoying my album so much – great to hear that it’s still the biggest seller of the year and has now gone double Platinum too. Looking forward to playing it live to my UK fans when the tour starts next week!”

Elsewhere in the Top 40 are 2014 albums by Coldplay, Paolo Nutini, Kasabian (Number 17), Royal Blood (Number 26) and more, plus a number of albums released in 2013 including Arctic Monkeys’ ‘AM’.
