Ed Sheeran mistaken for Prince Harry on hilarious Royal Wedding plate

It's a right royal mix-up...

With preparations steaming ahead ready for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding – which takes place on May 19 – a bizarre commemorative plate has replaced Prince Harry with fellow redhead Ed Sheeran.

The souvenir plate is on sale on the online marketplace Etsy, and was spotted by former royal chef Darren McGrady. “Loving all the #PrinceHarry and #MeghanMarkle memorabilia,” he tweeted. “Just think some companies should do a little more research first.”

Meanwhile, the seller of the offending plate insists that Ed Sheeran’s surprising presence on the plate is intentional, with the product being marketed as an ‘alternative’ commemorative item. The description encourages you to “celebrate THE wedding of the year with this beautiful china plate featuring the portraits of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle”.

According to its creator, she was inspired by a mug commemorating the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. In that case, a picture of Prince Harry was printed on the mug by mistake.

This isn’t Ed Sheeran’s first brush with royalty. Two years ago, the musician claimed that Princess Beatrice cut him across the face when she was pretending to knight James Blunt during a party at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

“The blade cut into his face and it was just a few inches from his right eye,” one source told The Sun. “A couple of the guests said it could have been worse and he could have been blinded in the eye, but Ed really played it down. Everyone was totally shocked and apparently Beatrice was very upset. But Ed was the perfect gentleman and told her it was just an accident.”

There have also been reports that Sheeran is performing at the Royal Wedding.
