PARISH TURNS TO E!

John Parish teams up with E and friends - who should have a new album out around the same time...

EELS plan to release a new album in September, and have announced PJ HARVEY guitarist JOHN PARISH will join the band for their forthcoming appearances at the CARLING WEEKEND FESTIVALS.

Eels have spent the first part of this year working on the follow-up to last year’s ‘Daisies Of The Galaxy’ record. Speaking recently, mainman E said that the band hope to release the as-yet-untitled album by September.

He said: “We are all hoping that the new Eels record will come out by September, but have no release date as of yet, so I’m not sure what to say about it right now. You could say we’re working on it I guess.”

NME.COM can reveal the band are expected to premiere new material at their forthcoming appearances at the Carling Weekend Festivals in Reading and Leeds (August 24-26), where they will be joined by Parish, who has been writing material with the band.

Parish has previously recorded with PJ Harvey, with the duo collaborating on the 1996 album ‘Dance Hall At Louse Point’.

Speaking about the festival dates, E joked: “In a show of good faith, we are reaching out with hands across the water. There are English bands and there are American bands. With a funky Englishman named John Parish in the band, we have become the world’s band. We are the world. And the world rocks.”
