AT LAST ELASTICA

Album on the way in March 2000...no, stop laughing, we're serious....

ELASTICA will play an NME Carling Premier Show at London WC1 Astoria on January 29.

The band join Asian Dub Foundation (January 27), Embrace (28), Shack, Les Rythmes Digitales, Coldplay and Campag Velocet (30) on the week-long series of gigs.

Meanwhile, Elastica have finally finished their as-yet-untitled second album and it’s set for release in March on Deceptive.

The 12-track follow-up to their 1994 debut was cut in New York by singer Justine Frischmann last week.

Tracks slated for inclusion on the new album feature: ‘The Way I Like It’ ‘Your Arse My Place”Love Like Ours’ ‘Human”Da Da Da”Miami Nice”My Sex’

The last is described as “a sultry, spoken word by Justine” by a spokesman for Elastica, though it isn’t a cover of the Ultravox spoken word track of the same name.

It’s rumoured that Mark E Smith, who appeared on August’s ‘Elastica EP’, appears on the new album and Loz Hardy, ex of Kingmaker, has collaborated on some of the new material.

One industry insider who’s heard the new album described it as: “very moody and minimal with not much in the way of pop songs.”

Elastica will debut material from the new album at the NME Carling Premier show.
