The band will play three dates at Manchester's O2 Apollo and three at London's Hammersmith Eventim Apollo
Elbow have announced six theatre shows in Manchester and London for next February.
The band are set to play three shows at Manchester’s O2 Apollo and three at London’s Hammersmith Eventim Apollo, with tickets available from 9am this Friday (September 5).
Speaking about the shows, singer Guy Garvey says: “We enjoyed our theatre tour of the States and Canada this summer so much that we decided to do some at home. There is something magic about the history of old theatres and doing residencies in these lovely buildings means we can be playful with the staging. Also the band often discuss how great it would be to play older and rarer songs of ours alongside the ones we are best known for. We are also hoping for a range of excellent guests and are really excited about these shows.”
Elbow will play:
Manchester O2 Apollo (February 5, 6, 7)
London Hammersmith Eventim Apollo (10, 11, 12)
The Bury quintet scored their first ever UK Number One earlier this year with sixth studio LP ‘The Take Off And Landing Of Everything’.
The album was recorded at the band’s own Blueprint Studios in Manchester and at Peter Gabriel’s Real World studios in Bath. As with Elbow’s two previous albums, the new record was produced by keyboardist Craig Potter. Garvey said: “We discuss getting an outside producer every now and again, but we don’t want to let go of the feeling that the five of us know what’s going on, but no-one else in the world does until we release it. I think you can feel in our records that they’re the work of old friends who still get a kick out of one another.”
Elbow also played a number of high profile slots across the summer festival season including a second billing supporting Arcade Fire on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
