SMITH’S ROYAL PARDON

The cult singer/songwriter blames "work commitments"...

Elliott Smith has cancelled his forthcoming show at LONDON’s ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL on February 6 due to “work commitments”.

A brief statement from the indie figurehead’s management said he was well on his way to completing his new album and would find it “unworkable” trying to fit the London show in around these sessions.

It is understood that Elliott Smith would have had to take quite a few days out to rehearse with the orchestra he had planned to perform with and could not afford the time. The show will be rescheduled, but at present there are no details of future date or venue.

A spokesperson for Elliott Smith today (January 17) denied rumours that the show had been cancelled because the singer has gone AWOL.
