The Rocket Man will return to the Golden Mile in June
Elton John has added a gig next to Blackpool Tower to his summer UK tour.
The Rocket Man will be the first artist to play a gig at Tower Festival Headland, a new seated venue on the Lancashire town’s seafront, on June 16.
The show forms part of the legendary singer’s extensive world tour, which includes solo gigs, shows with a backing band and joint dates with Ray Cooper. The jaunt hits Mexico’s Estatdio Omnilife this Friday (February 24), with dates in the US, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Poland, France and Indonesia penciled in until November.
The UK leg of Elton John’s world tour comprises:
Taunton Somerset Country Cricket Club (June 3)
Harrogate Great Yorkshire Showground (5)
Belfast Odyssey Arena (7)
Chesterfield B2NET Stadium (9)
Falkirk Stadium (10)
Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (13)
Birmingham LG Arena (15)
Blackpool Tower Festival Headland (16)
Earlier this month, John reignited his war of words with Madonna after telling the singer to “lip-sync good” ahead of her Super Bowl halftime show on February 5. This followed comments from John’s civil partner David Furnish, who described Madonna’s Golden Globes victory as a “fluke”, although he later claimed that the spat had been “blown way out of proportion”.
