Elton John pulls European tour

Singer shelves dates after dispute with promoters

Elton John has been forced to shelve his entire mainland European tour.

The singer has pulled a number of dates on his ‘Red Piano’ jaunt after a dispute with the promoters.

He was due to appear for shows at Venice on June 5 and 6, Berlin on the 22nd, Moscow on July 3, Paris on September 9 and Seville on the 14th.

A spokesman said: “We regret to announce that Elton John‘s European ‘Red Piano’ shows have been cancelled. The promoter has been unable to guarantee to put on the shows, resulting in us having to take this very difficult decision.

“We do of course appreciate that Elton‘s fans will be disappointed at this news, and we are already looking into the possibility of returning to the affected cities in the very near future.”

The move comes after one of the dates in Seville was recently put back for “technical reasons”.

The shows, which feature video screens and giant inflatable props, were created for the singer’s regular appearances at Caesar‘s Palace in Las Vegas, reports BBC News.

The star’s forthcoming UK dates remain unaffected.
