ELTON JOHN has spoken excitedly about his forthcoming collaboration… with footballing legend GIANLUCA VIALLI.
Sir Elton is chairman of Watford Football Club, who yesterday appointed Vialli, a former star forward for Juventus and Italy, as well as manager of Chelsea.
Speaking about the announcement, Sir Elton, better known for more recent joint work with Eminem and Nelly Furtado, said: “When the board told me they were thinking of getting Gianluca Vialli, I was so excited. He was one of my favourite players of all-time, and at Chelsea I thought he did a fantastic job.”
Sir Elton added: “It’s the best managerial appointment we could have made as a First Division club, and I’m sure Gianluca, with his back-up team, will build a wonderful team of players at Watford… I can’t wait for the beginning of next season.”
Elton delivered his welcome via a satellite link-up from the US, where he is currently on tour, to the club’s ground, Vicarage Road.
And Vialli, previously considered one of the most stylish and urbane men in Britain, used the occasion to talk of his admiration for
Sir Elton, demanding a lifetime supply of his records.
