But singer Danny McNamara reveals that he has found writing lyrics tough...
EMBRACE singer DANNY McNAMARA has promised their third album will be finished in “record time”, because the band’s current sessions “just feel right”.
McNamara has started a studio diary on the official Embrace website, [url=]www.embrace.co.uk, while the band record their as-yet-untitled third studio album with Coldplay producer Ken Nelson.
He said Embrace are in good spirits, and are experiencing a burst of creativity in the studio. He commented: “Things are still going extremely well. It’s usually a whole lot harder. My only explanation for this is that we must have finally come to realise our own pace. Although we are going to deliver this LP in record (for us) time, it just feels right.”
Over the last 12 months, Embrace have been playing a series of secret live shows across the county. The most recent took place in a cave near Wycombe. McNamara said that because they have been playing the new songs live, many are mostly finished when they entered the studio – unusual for Embrace.
He also commented that he has written most of the lyrics for the third album, as brother Richard took time out to have a baby.
He continued: “I find lyric writing is the most demanding part of being in a band. It usually constitutes me walking round in a daze with a song playing over and over in my head. This can be really soul-destroying, as days go by without any good ideas. You can start to wonder if you’ll ever be able to do it again. But getting a song that says it is always worth it in the end.”
From the sessions so far, new song ‘It’s Going To Take Time’ is the most likely candidate to be released as a single. Other tracks which have been worked on include ‘If You’ve Never Been In Love With Anything’, which will “surprise a few people” and ‘Hey, What You Trying To Say’, which features a three-part vocal harmony.
The record is due for release later in the year, and the band plan to perform at UK festivals this summer.
