'The Eminem Show' enjoys huge first-week sales, but 'Without Me' is knocked off the top of the singles chart...
EMINEM’s ‘Without Me’ has been knocked off the Number One spot by Pop Idol winner WILL YOUNG in the new UK singles chart tonight (Sunday June 2).
But the rapper can take consolation in his comeback album ‘The Eminem Show’ entering the UK chart at Number One with a massive-selling first week’s sale. ‘The Eminem Show’ sold a huge 76,000 copies on Monday alone and the final tally could reach platinum sales (300,000) for the first week.
Will Young knocked Eminem off Number One in the singles chart with his version of ‘Light My Fire’. Eminem’s ‘Without Me’ is now at Number Two, while Ant & Dec’s official England World Cup song ‘We’re On The Ball’ is new at Number Three. Another football song, DJ Otzi’s ‘Hey Baby (Unofficial World Cup Remix)’ is the only other new entry in the Top Ten.
Sex Pistols return with the 25th anniversary release of their classic ‘God Save The Queen’ at 15, while Busta Rhymes is new at 16 with ‘Pass The Courvoisier – Part II’. Ozzy Osbourne gets a new entry at 18 with ‘Dreamer’.
In the album chart, Eminem’s album knocked Ronan Keating’s ‘Destination’ from the top, while Liberty X scored a new entry at Number Three with ‘Thinking It Over’.
Meanwhile, Eminem has sold around one million copies of ‘The Eminem Show’ in the US in its first week on sale. Last night (Saturday, June 1) the rapper performed at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles. Also at the ceremony, Ozzy’s daughter Kelly Osbourne made her live debut with her version of Madonna’s ‘Papa Don’t Preach’.
