The rapper's troubles continue to pile up...

Eminem‘s wife, KIM MATHERS, made an apparent suicide bid at the couple’s DETROIT home on Friday night (July 7).

According to reports in the Detroit Free Press, police officers were alerted to Eminem‘s home in Sterling Heights at approximately 11.30pm following reports that Mathers had attempted to kill herself. Although it is not exactly clear what happened, other reports suggest that she attempted to slit her wrists.

Following the incident, Mathers was taken to the local Mount Clemens General Hospital, before being released later.

A spokesperson for Eminem‘s record label in the US, Interscope, is quoted in the report as saying: “Eminem is obviously concerned about his wife’s well-being. As far as anything else, it’s a private matter, which they’ll be addressing privately.”

Eminem was not present at their home when the incident took place, as he is currently on the Up In Smoke Tour with other rappers Dr Dre, Snoop Dog and Warren G. Ironically, he was in Detroit, as the tour had just called at the Joe Louis Arena in the city.

Mathers’ hospitalisation comes on the same day her husband appeared in court on two charges relating to an incident where he allegedly pulled a gun on rival rappers Insane Clown Posse outside a car stereo shop in the city.

In court a new date of July 17 was set for the star to return to face the charges – which are possession of a concealed weapon, and a misdemeanour charge of brandishing a firearm in public. If convicted he could face up to five years in prison.
