Detroit rapper's eighth studio album sells 73,000 copies in little over 24 hours on sale
Eminem is on course to be Number One in the Official Albums Chart this weekend with ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’.
Official Chart Company data reveals that Eminem’s eighth studio album is already one of the fastest-selling albums of the year, shifting 73,000 copies since it went on sale yesterday (November 5). Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’ is currently 2013’s fastest-selling artist album, shifting more than 165,000 copies during its first week on sale back in May. The final chart will be revealed on BBC Radio 1 this Sunday (November 10).
Elsewhere in the Official Album Chart, 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur is at Number Two with his self-titled debut album, the second of five new entries in the top five. Tinie Tempah‘s ‘Demonstration’ (3), Andre Rieu’s ‘Music Of The Night’ (4) and Shane Filan’s ‘You And Me’ (5) round off the list.
There are a further six new entries further down the chart with The Overtones are on course for their third successive Top 10 album with ‘Saturday Night At The Movies’ new at Number Six. Elsewhere, The Wanted (7), Avril Lavigne (11), Nickelback (16), Bob Dylan (21) and Midlake’s Antiphon (22) are all on course for Top 40 entries.
Eminem’s success in the Official Album Chart will come at the expense of his Official Singles Chart crown with his single ‘The Monster’, featuring Rihanna, likely to fall from the Number One spot this weekend, replaced by Storm Queen’s ‘Look Right Through’. However, ‘The Monster’ remains at Number Two while ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ album track s ‘Berserk’ and ‘Rap God’ remain in the Top 40.
Elsewhere in the Official Singles Chart there are new entries at the midweek point for Little Mix (3), Britney Spears (4), Katy B (11), Justin Bieber (15), Taylor Swift (18) and Pet Shop Boys (40).
