BABY ADDS SPICE TO CHART RACE

Baby Spice has the power...

EMMA BUNTON‘s first solo single looks increasingly likely to knock HEAR’SAY from the Number One spot this Sunday, according to initial sales figures.

‘What Took You So Long’, Bunton‘s first full solo single outside of the Spice Girls sold 14,690 copies on its first day of release yesterday (April 2), enough to take it straight to the top of the charts.

Shaggy‘s ‘It Wasn’t Me” remains at Number Two, having sold 12,473, while Hear’say‘s ‘Pure And Simple’ is currently at Number Three, having sold 10,153 copies.

Of this week’s other new releases, none are yet to make a real impact on the Top Five. Ash‘s new single ‘Burn Baby Burn’ is at Number Seven, Feeder‘s ‘Seven Days In The Sun’ is at Number Nine, while Lil Bow Wow’s ‘Bow Wow’ is at Number Ten.

Elsewhere, ‘Chillin”, the follow-up to Modjo‘s highly successful single ‘Lady’ is at Number Twelve and the re-released ‘Suspicious Minds’ by Elvis Presley is at Number Thirteen.
