Fat White Family unveil video for song ‘I Am Mark E Smith’ – watch

Track to be released on vinyl on December 22

Fat White Family have unveiled a new video for their latest single ‘I Am Mark E Smith.’

The single, which is named after The Fall frontman and is a reference to their song ‘I Am Damo Suzuki’, came out digitally in October and will be released on vinyl on December 22.

The retro-looking video features footage of a group of men carrying a casket across a field as well as Fat White Family performing live, interspersed with clips of a man going about his morning routine before heading to the pub. It ends with another man reading what purports to be a statement from Mark E Smith: “Good evening, I’m Mark, I see you are still having no luck catching me. I’m not sure when I’ll strike again, but it will definitely be sometime this year,” he reads.

Fat White Family performed the track at Beacons Festival in Yorkshire, where they were joined onstage by Mark E Smith himself.

Fat White Family recently announced details of a re-release of their debut LP ‘Champagne Holocaust’ via Trashmouth Records with a ten-track bonus CD added to the original album and additional artwork from guitarist Saul Adamscewski. The artwork depicts drawings of serial killers and will feature in an exhibition alongside cartoonist R Crumb.

‘Champagne Holocaust’ was first released in April 2013 before getting an official CD release last November.
