Singer Grant Nicholas reveals the family of tragic Jon Lee have urged the band not to split...

Feeder vocalist GRANT NICHOLAS has said drummer JON LEE’s family have urged the group not to split following the suicide of their son on Monday (January 7).

As revealed yesterday on NME.COM, Lee took his own life at his home in Florida. He was aged 33.

Speaking to Radio 1, Nicholas said that there was “a real bond” between him and Lee.

He commented: “It’s just terrible really. There was a real bond between the two of us.” He also revealed that he has spoken to the family of the late drummer, who urged the band to stay together.

Tributes to Lee are also forthcoming today. Stereophonics, who recently toured Europe with Feeder, described the loss as “tragic”.

In a statement, they said: “We wish to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Jon Lee, drummer with Feeder. Last year we toured together in both Europe and the UK and had a great time. Jon was always the life and soul…always up for a party, so it is a great shock to hear this tragic news.”

In related news, the details of Lee’s death are starting to emerge. Veronica Lamar of the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to the local Miami Herald newspaper that Lee hanged himself at his home.
