Small festivals unite to guarantee survival

Events including Bestival and Field Day join up in new initiative

A host of the UK’s small festivals have decided to work together to guarantee survival and better quality events for fans.

Festivals including Bestival, Summer Sundae, Creamfields, Secret Garden Party and Field Day – which features an NME.COM stage – have teamed up in an attempt to stop the myriad problems faced by smaller festivals every summer.

Even this summer, events such as Redfest were forced to cancel after hitting financial trouble.

As well as attempting to make festivals more cost-effective, the union of organisers will try and make the festivals more environmentally-friendly.

This is likely to lead to fewer cancellations of smaller festivals, better conditions and less hassle for festival-goers.

Other festivals taking part in the arrangement include WOMAD, Electric Picnic, The Big Chill, Beautiful Days, Glade, The Bloom Festival and RockNess.
