Creamfields to relocate

The festival heads to Cheshire

Creamfields is set to relocate to a brand new site this summer.

The dance festival, which has taken place at the Old Liverpool Airfield in Speke for the past seven years, is planning to move to part of the Daresbury Estate in Halton, Cheshire.

Last year’s event attracted over 40,000 people with previous headline acts including Scissor Sisters, Massive Attack, Pet Shop Boys, Run-DMC, Basement Jaxx, Faithless and Underworld.

Meetings concerning the relocation have already taken place with Halton Borough Council, the police and the emergency services.

Organisers however are keen to point out that event planning is still at an early stage and the licence application is expected to be submitted over the coming weeks.

Chief executive of Cream, James Burton said: “Creamfields is an internationally acclaimed event and over the last seven years has made a huge contribution to Liverpool’s cultural renaissance. A successful Creamfields will help promote Halton and demonstrate their willingness to deliver a major cultural event.”
