Check out those bands following in The Subways’ footsteps…

The GLASTONBURY UNSIGNED BANDS COMPETITION is set to release a compilation featuring all this year’s finalists.

The event, which helped launched The Subways last year, gives new bands the chance to play a slot at the festival on the Acoustic, JazzWorld, John Peel and Other Stages.

This year’s overall winners were The Deadbeats, but all the bands that were invited to the finals at the Pilton Working Man’s Club feature on ‘Glastonbury Unsigned Bands 2005’.

The double CD will be released on June 6, and cost £5 with the proceeds being split between the bands and homeless charity Shelter.

This year’s Glastonbury will see The Deadbeats playing the Acoustic and Other stages, with Mad Starring Eyes on the John Peel Stage, The Bellagios playing the Dance Tent and Moya featuring on the JazzWorld Stage.
