The Hives overthrow the monarchy at the V Festival

The band also impersonate headliners Prodigy during their Channel 4 Stage performance…

THE HIVES overthrew the monarchy and impersonated the PRODIGY at tonight’s V FESTIVAL (August 21).

Taking to the Channel 4 Stage at the Chelmsford leg of the event, the band proclaimed themselves to be the leaders of the country.

Speaking from the stage, singer Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist told the crowd: “As the prince of England let me introduce you to the new Royal Family… The Hives.”

Following a crowd-pleasing set which included the tracks ’Main Offender’, ’Walk, Idiot, Walk’, Diabolic Scheme’, ’B Is For Brutus’, ’Two-Timing Touch And Broken Bones’ and ’Hate To Say I Told You So’, Almqvist attempted to extend their set by impersonating the stage’s headliners Prodigy.

He said: “If I do this right then we can play more music. We are the Prodigy. It is our turn to play now. This one’s called ’Firestarter’.”

The band then went on to play their closer ’A.K.A I-D-I-O-T’.
