MELTDOWN!

Ash stay on to raise hell with some old friends...

ASH made the most of their stay at BENICASSIM, staying on an extra day to catch up with old friends – and get in trouble.

The band opened the five-day party in Valencia last night (August 5) with a storming set packed with tunes from new album ‘Meltdown’.

But the presence of Northern Irish countrymen Snow Patrol on today’s bill saw the band return to their legendary hard-partying ways.

Ash drummer Rick McMurray and Snow Patrol guitarist Nathan Conolly have been friends since their schooldays.

Shortly after the boys from both bands vanished off for a celebratory round of go-karting at the nearby track, guitarist Charlotte Hatherley was quick to shift the blame for her hangover.

She told NME.COM: “Fucking Snow Patrol! They’ve been at every single gig we’ve been playing for the last month, we were in Australia they kept on cropping up at the same venues, and last night was just horrific! Mark (Hamilton) was the most wasted I’ve ever seen him this morning!”

She continued: “You always forget being in Europe, the shows are always much later, so we didn’t go on ‘til after midnight.”

Ash leave the site tonight to drive to Portugal for another festival.
