A teenage boy has died at the READING FESTIVAL.

Local police are investigating the unexplained death in the early hours of this morning. Officers were called at 5.15am following reports that a man in the campsite had stopped breathing.

Paramedics worked for almost an hour on the 18-year-old at the scene, before rushing him to the Royal Berkshire Hospital just before 6am. However he was pronounced dead at 6.15am.

Police say there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances, although until a post-mortem is completed a cause of death is not known.

Inspector John Relph, who has been overseeing the running of the festival, said: “The tragic events of this morning’s sudden death have dampened things and our sympathies and thoughts are with the family of the boy who died.”
