BIG DAY OUT FANS PAY TRIBUTE TO CRUSH VICTIM

Fans at this year's event in Sydney remember Jessica Michalik...

JESSICA MICHALIK, the 16 year-old girl who died at last year’s SYDNEY BIG DAY OUT, will be remembered with ‘a minute’s noise’ at this year’s event.

The Sydney leg of the Big Day Out festival is due to take place this Saturday (January 26).

According to the Australian news network, www.news.com.au, fans attending this year’s show will be asked to scream Jessica’s name at 4pm, when her favourite band, Grinspoon make their appearance on the main stage.

Organisers considered this a more appropriate way of remembering the girl than a traditional minute’s silence.

At the other venues on the touring festival, fans will be given free temporary butterfly tattoos with the words ‘Hole Lotta Love’ written in Jessica’s handwriting.

The local teenager was killed following a crowd surge at last year’s event. She later died in hospital. As a consequence, this year’s festival has seen a number of changes to the way the event is run.
