The songs are likely to appear on the singer’s fourth studio album, ‘The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw, And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do’, which is set for release this spring. The record will be a follow-up to her 2005 third album ‘Extraordinary Machine’

This is the second time in Apple’s career that she has named an album after a lengthy poem. In 1999 she released her second album, which has the full title of ‘When The Pawn Hits The Conflicts He Thinks Like A King. What He Knows Throws The Blows When He Goes To The Fight. And He’ll Win The Whole Thing ‘Fore He Enters The Ring. There’s No Body To Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might. So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand. And Remember That Depth Is The Greatest Of Heights. And If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where To Land. And If You Fall It Won’t Matter, Cause You’ll Know That You’re Right’.

The title of Apple’s second album is the longest ever, according to the Guinness Book Of World Records, and contains 90 words in total.

Following her SXSW appearance, Apple has just set out on an seven-date US tour. She will also be playing a show this June in New York in support of her fourth album. This is her first tour of any kind for five years.
