Singer will release her fourth album on June 25 this summer
Fiona Apple has unveiled full details of her fourth studio album ‘The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw, And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do’, which will come out in June.
The album contains 10 tracks in all and will be released on June 25 in the UK and June 26 in the US. The LP is the follow-up to her third album ‘Extraordinary Machine’ and her first studio offering for seven years. The singer has debuted opener ‘Every Single Night’ and ‘Anything We Want’ during her recent live shows at SXSW festival.
It is the second time in Apple’s career that she has named her album after a lengthy poem. In 1999 she released her second album, which has the full title of ‘When The Pawn Hits The Conflicts He Thinks Like A King. What He Knows Throws The Blows When He Goes To The Fight. And He’ll Win The Whole Thing ‘Fore He Enters The Ring. There’s No Body To Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might. So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand. And Remember That Depth Is The Greatest Of Heights. And If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where To Land. And If You Fall It Won’t Matter, Cause You’ll Know That You’re Right’.
The title of Apple’s second album is the longest ever, according to the Guinness Book Of World Records, and contains 90 words in total.
Apple will tour the US in June in support of her fourth album, playing eight shows in total. It is her first tour of any kind for five years.
The tracklisting for ‘The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw, And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do’ is as follows:
