'The Lion's Roar' will be released at the start of next year
First Aid Kit are set to release their second album ‘The Lion’s Roar’, on January 23 2012.
The duo, made up of sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg, recorded the album in Omaha in the United States with producer Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes. Conor Oberst also makes an appearance. A full band album, ‘The Lion’s Roar’ features the pair’s father Benkt on bass, Mattias Bergqvist on drums and Mogis and Nate Walcott of Bright Eyes also playing a host of instruments.
The album contains the song ‘Emmylou’, which pays tribute to Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, Johnny Cash and June Carter. “We’ve listened to those people for a very long time. We hadn’t even toured America when we started writing that song,” explained Johanna.
The follow up to 2010’s ‘The Big Black And The Blue’ sees the duo collaborating with The Felice Brothers on ‘King of the World’. The track also has Bright Eyes main man Conor Oberst – pictured – singing the last verse.
‘In The Hearts Of Men’, ‘Dance to Another Tune’, ‘Wolf’, ‘To A Poet’ and ‘New Year’s Eve’ will also feature on the album.
First Aid Kit recently reduced Patti Smith to tears with their performance of her song ‘Dancing Barefoot’ at the Polar Music Prize award ceremony in Stockholm. Watch footage of their performance for Smith below:
