McVie has also expressed an interest in re-joining her old group on a permanent basis
Christine McVie has said that playing with her old band Fleetwood Mac earlier this year “felt great!”
In a newly published interview with The Guardian, which was teased last month, McVie commented that performing ‘Don’t Stop’ with the group at The O2 Arena in September 2013 was “like falling off a bike”. She added: “I climbed back on there again and there they all were, the same old faces!”
When asked if she was nervous about joining her old band for the song, she said: “Not as much as I thought, because none of the band drink any more and I’ve seldom done a gig without a spritzer, you know? But it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought. In fact, it felt great!”
It was previously reported that during the interview Christine McVie expressed an interest in permanently re-joining Fleetwood Mac. McVie, who left the band in 1998, said to The Guardian: “I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them. I miss them all. If they were to ask me I would probably be very delighted… but it hasn’t happened so we’ll have to wait and see.”
On her reasons for quitting the group, McVie said: “I think I was just music’d out. I suffered from some kind of delusion that I wanted to be an English country girl, a Sloane Ranger or something… and it took me 15 years to realise that it’s not really what I wanted at all.”
Her ex-husband, John McVie, was recently diagnosed with cancer, leading Fleetwood Mac to cancel their Australian and New Zealand tour so he can seek treatment. When asked how he was doing, she responded: “…really good. He’s having his treatment in LA right now, but they caught it really early so he should be up and running in a couple of months.”
Bookmakers recently stopped taking bets on Fleetwood Mac headlining Glastonbury Festival in 2014. Ladbrokes were previously offering odds of 1/4 on seeing the band headline the Pyramid Stage in June next year. However, following an increased period of speculation and Fleetwood Mac’s recent UK tour dates, the betting was suspended.
