Florence + The Machine score first US Number One album

Florence's third album 'How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful' has already reached Number 1 in the UK

Florence And The Machine have entered the US charts at Number One with third album ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’.

The chart-topping debut easily beats the peak of Florence Welch and co.’s second album, ‘Ceremonials’, which topped out at Number Six in the US in 2011, and the group’s 2009 debut ‘Lungs’, which reached a peak of Number 14 in the US. ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’ has already gone straight to Number 1 in the UK, becoming Florence’s third straight UK chart-topper.

‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’ sold 137,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release in the US, Billboard reports, over double the number sold by its nearest rival, Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ album, which sold 66,000 equivalent album units.
