Band will play afternoon set on the NME/ Radio 1 Stage
Foals have been revealed as the special guests as Reading Festival today (August 29) with the band set to play a secret set at the festival.
The group will play on the NME/ Radio 1 Stage at 1:40PM with their appearance on the bill previously unknown to ticket holders. Foals’ appearance at the festival was confirmed to NME by a spokesperson for the band. The band themselves also tweeted a picture of frontman Yannis Philippakis on the Reading festival site.
Foals released new album ‘What Went Down’ yesterday (August 28). ‘What Went Down’ was recorded in the south of France with Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons, Mumford & Sons) and features the single ‘Mountain At My Gates’. It is their fourth studio LP, following on from 2013’s ‘Holy Fire’.
Festival organiser Melvin Benn recently dropped a major hint regarding a secret set at this year’s festival.
Speaking to NME, Benn was asked if he could provide any clues to whether a secret act might be playing this year.
In response, he appeared to suggest that Foals would be performing, saying, “Wild horses wouldn’t let me be able to tell you who the secret guests are. You can take from that whatever you want.”
Other artists set to appear at the Reading site today include headliners Metallica plus Bring Me The Horizon, Royal Blood, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Wolf Alice.
