Album artwork and tracklist confirmed
Foo Fighters have confirmed details of new album ‘Sonic Highways’.
The album will be released on November 10 and is the band’s eighth studio effort. Marking this number, the band visited eight different US cities and recorded one song of the album’s eight songs in each. Scroll down for a full tracklist as well as a short teaser video featuring Dave Grohl.
The vinyl release of ‘Sonic Highways’ will come with an assortment of nine different covers including eight variants each themed for one of the cities in which the album was recorded: Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle, and Washington, DC. Customers will receive one of the nine covers at random.
Speaking about the album, frontman Dave Grohl is quoted as saying: “This album is instantly recognisable as a Foo Fighters record, but there’s something deeper and more musical to it. I think that these cities and these people influenced us to stretch out and explore new territory, without losing our ‘sound’.”
‘Sonic Highways’ tracklist:
‘Something From Nothing’
‘The Feast and The Famine’
‘What Did I Do?/God As My Witness’
‘In The Clear’
‘I Am A River’
Described as “epic” by producer Butch Vig, the new album will be accompanied by mini series Sonic Highways, which will document the recording progress. Dave Grohl will operate as director on the project, following his Sound City documentary of 2013.
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters are to return to the UK stage at the closing concert for the Invictus Games in September. The event takes place at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on September 14, and sees Dave Grohl and co top a line-up that also includes Kaiser Chiefs, Ellie Goulding, Ryan Adams, The Vamps, Rizzle Kicks, James Blunt, Diversity and Military Wives Choirs. The 26,000-capacity outdoor concert will take place on the south lawn of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from 5pm to 10pm and highlights will be broadcast by the BBC.
