He also stated that he teamed up on the tracks with singer-songwriter Ben Kweller, who he later welcomed onto the stage to duet on ‘Big Me’.

Grohl added: “Just by chance, I bumped into an old friend that I hadn’t seen in about 16 years, right as I was recording a vocal. This motherfucker walks in — I’m like, ‘Hey, man!’ — and he starts fucking singing the most beautiful harmony to the thing I was singing. I was like, ‘Get your ass in the vocal booth right now.’ And then he said, ‘Hey, if you want, I’ll come up and sing a song with you tonight.'”

Grohl also reunited with a former school friend at a Foo Fighters at a show last week, telling the crowd that the classmate once beat him in a battle of the bands competition.

Grohl and co were performing at Memphis, Tennessee on Wednesday (October 7) when he was joined onstage by Chet Lott, who defeated the singer in a music contest when they were 15.
