DAVE GROHL, Tenacious D and LIZ PHAIR joined together this week to pledge support for US presidential candidate JOHN KERRY
The benefit for the Democrat took place at the HENRY FONDA THEATRE in LOS ANGELES on Tuesday (July 6) reports Rolling Stone.
Before his 30-minute set, Grohl timidly announced: “I’ve never done an acoustic set by myself before” but churned out crowd-pleasing Foo Fighters songs like ‘Learn to Fly’, ‘My Hero’ and ‘Times Like These’.
Up to 1000 party goers attended the $150-a-head gig including celebrities David Spade, Lance Bass and William H Macy.
Liz Phair’s half-hour set included old favourites ‘Polyester Bride’ and ‘Supernova’.
The [a][/a] headline set opened with a cover of Led Zeppelin‘s ‘Good Times, Bad Times’ and climaxed when the repertoire of artists on stage included Grohl on drums, a string quartet and breakdancers.
Jack Black and Kyle Gass closed the night with ‘Tribute’ and vowed to help prevent the re-election of George W Bush, who Black described as “The worst fucking president in the history of time.”
