Dave Grohl and Josh Homme team up for charity

Tenacious D stage LA show for hurricane victims

Tenacious D recruited a host of celebrity friends, including Foo FightersDave Grohl and Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, for a Hurricane Katrina benefit in Los Angeles last night (September 22).

The show included sets from the Eagles Of Death Metal and Fiona Apple, plus comics Sarah Silverman and David Cross.

However the highlight of the three-hour event at the Wiltern Theatre was a solo acoustic set by Grohl which included a stripped down version of his band’s single ‘Best of You’, before he was joined by Homme and Eagles Of Death Metal‘s Jesse Hughes for a version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Born In The Bayou’.

Headlining the event, Tenacious D earned the biggest applause of the night for new song ‘The Government Totally Sucks’, before frontman Jack Black jokingly declared, “This has been one of the greatest night in the history of fundraisers.”
